I stand for ADVANCEMENT and BETTER MEDICINE
Nurses have great flexibility in their careers. Staff nursing is just one of many opportunities in nursing. There are many different ways for a nurse to make a difference in the quality of patient care.
What brought you to Stanford?
I wanted the opportunity to work with the best. I love the hospital, the grounds, the campus, and the culture. I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to start my nursing career at LPCH as a staff nurse on the Bone Marrow Transplant/Oncology unit. I loved working with the children and the staff. Now I am using my nursing and computer background to help build the new electronic medical record system that will go live at Stanford Hospital and Clinics in 2008.
What do you enjoy most about working at Stanford?
I enjoy working with the best, the teamwork, and the opportunities to learn. If you are open to change, you can do and learn whatever you are interested in. There are so many opportunities.
What would you tell someone considering employment at Stanford?
If the opportunity presents itself, go for it. Just get in and grow. I highly recommend it.
Outside of work, what do you enjoy or what is it about you personally that makes you a valuable member of the Stanford team?
I love meeting people and adding to their lives. I like to travel and learn about different cultures. My husband and I have four children, four grandchildren, two dogs and two birds that we enjoy spending time with. We see as many movies as we have time for and love to learn new things. "Life is too short to have a bad or boring day."
I stand for
COMMITMENT
"I'm proud to work for an organization that is committed to providing excellent care to their patients and families."
